Why we love this app
This is an excellent open-play app for youngsters and the young-at-heart. There are a variety of characters to mix and match into your band. They squeak, whistle, and play the song with great animation and fun. Kids can make any character the solo star, and manipulate the part it plays in the band. Great fun and giggles guaranteed!
What it teaches and how it works
This app is a delight. Children are presented with a stage and a whole cast of characters appear across the bottom of the screen. When a child places a character onto the stage the character begins their part of the act. Stage placements higher on the band platform have the character playing at an increased tempo. The starring role is the top center spot. Any character placed here is made into a solo act which the child can experiment with and control: changing pitch, playing new notes, etc. Children get to play with music and sound in a very fun and engaging way. They will really enjoy being the leader of the Toca Band!
Why your kid won't be able to put it down
How could a child _not_ like playing with this goofy cast of characters who make sounds like squeaky balloons, whistling and a gentle rap? They are in control of the mix of characters and can experiment with each in solo mode. There is only one song, but rather than a limitation, it just makes the music all the better no matter the combination they make. Auditory play at its best!
