Why we love this app
Stack the States is a great introduction to the United States map, offering a playful mix of trivia, state shape recognition, and even a bit of physics. There is considerable content intermixed with an accessible physics game that has kids rotating and stacking states on top of one another.
What it teaches and how it works
Players are asked a series of trivia questions related to things like capitols, flags, and the historical backgrounds of states. Upon each correct answer, players can “drop” individual states onto a platform, eventually stacking them up to a set height.
Why your kid won't be able to put it down
Kids of all ages will chuckle as they see states land, bounce around, and sometimes capsize in ways they never intended. The questions can be challenging, but there are useful flashcards that can be studied in advance to improve performance.
